WORDS OF FRANCIS MCGOWAN

We owe the Blessed Trinity the homage of grateful love … What happiness was breathed into our souls! The Father adopted each one of us as his child, the Son embraced us as his brother, and the Holy Spirit chose us for his temple. Could the triune God have done more for us? … Yes, we have abundant reason to be thankful to the Holy Trinity for its love and mercy toward us; we have forcible reason to love and honor the ever-blessed Three and to offer them the best homage and sincerest worship of our lowly hearts.

SILENT ADORATION AND PRAYER

OPENING PRAYER

Leader: Let us pray to our God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

(Silent prayer)

O God, we praise you:

Father all-powerful, Christ Lord and Savior, Spirit of love.

You reveal yourself in the depths of our being,

drawing us to share in your love.

One God, three Persons,

be near to the people formed in your image,

close to the world your love brings to life.

We ask you this, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

one God, true and living, forever and ever.

Assembly: Amen.

JESUS MASTER TRUTH

Part II

JESUS MASTER WAY

Confrontation with the Word

POINTS FOR THE EXAMINATION OF THE HEART

Leader: To God the Father, belongs love; the grace of this love is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Savior; the power of the Holy Spirit brings us together in fellowship and communion with the divine love. Filed with the mystery of love of the Most Blessed Trinity, let us now examine our hearts.

1.      What is our personal response to this magnanimous, compassionate and gracious divine act: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life” (Jn 3:16)?

2.      How do we open our hearts to receive the following Trinitarian benediction: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you” (II Cor 13:13)?

3.      Is our life a Trinitarian doxology, “Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit”?

PRAYER TO THE HOLY TRINITY

(A prayer composed by Blessed James Alberione)

Leader: Divine Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, present and active in the Church and in the depths of my soul, I adore you, I thank you, I love you! And through the hands of Mary most holy, my mother, I offer, give and consecrate myself entirely to you for life and for eternity.

Assembly: To you, heavenly Father, I offer, give and consecrate myself as your son/daughter. To you, Jesus Master, I offer, give and consecrate myself as your brother/sister and disciple. To you, Holy Spirit, I offer, give and consecrate myself as a “living temple” to be consecrated and sanctified.

Leader: Mary, Mother of the Church and my Mother, who dwells in the presence of the Blessed Trinity,

Assembly: Teach me to live through the liturgy and the sacraments, in ever more intimate union with the three divine Persons, so that my whole life may be a “glory to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit”. Amen.

SONG: Any suitable song may be sung.

Part III

JESUS LIFE

Acting upon the Word

PERSONAL PRAYER

CONTEMPLATING WITH MARY THE FACE OF CHRIST: The Mysteries of the Rosary may be prayed in part or in full.

THE WAY OF SOLIDARITY: PRAYER OF INTERCESSION

Leader: God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that the world might be saved through him. United in the love of the Father and the Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we turn to the triune God in prayer and say:

(R.) LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1.      For a world that is wounded and fragmented by war, alienation and selfishness, we pray:  (R.)

2.      For broken families in our society, for the lonely and the abandoned, we pray:  (R.)

3.      For the sick and the homeless, for the unemployed seeking honest and dignified work that would give them a just recompense, and for those whose lives are shattered with pain and sorrow, we pray:  (R.)

4.      For those who wish to give glory to the Blessed Trinity by their lives of giving and sharing, and by their compassionate stance for the poor and the weak, we pray: (R.)

5.      For those who incarnate in their lives “the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit” and for those who endeavor to give glory to the triune God, we pray: (R.)

6.      For the Holy Father’s General Intention for this month of May: FOR PEOPLE PERSECUTED FOR THE SAKE OF FAITH AND JUSTICE: May they find consolation and strength in the Holy Spirit. We pray:  (R.)

7.      For the Holy Father’s Mission Intention for this month of May: FOR THE PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES: May they help all Christians, young and old, realize that they have a part to play in missionary work. We pray:  (R.)

(Other prayers may be added.)

THE LORD’S PRAYER

CONCLUDING PRAYER

Leader: Father,

you sent your Word to bring us truth

and your Spirit to make us holy.

Through them we come to know the mystery of your life.

Help us to worship you,

one God in three Persons,

by proclaiming and living our faith in you.

Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God forever and ever.

Assembly: Amen.

FINAL SONG: Any suitable Eucharistic hymn or song of praise may be sung.
