CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, n. 261 & 236
The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and of the Christian life. God alone can make it known to us by revealing himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit … God’s works reveal who he is in himself; the mystery of his inmost being enlightens our understanding of all his works. So it is, analogously, among human persons. A person discloses himself in his actions, and the better we know a person, the better we understand his actions.
SILENT ADORATION
OPENING PRAYER
Leader: Father,
you sent your Word to bring us truth
and your Spirit to make us holy.
Through them we come to know the mystery of your life.
Help us to worship you, one God in three Persons,
by proclaiming and living our faith in you.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Assembly: Amen.
Part I
JESUS MASTER TRUTH
Listening to the Word
FIRST READING: Dt 4:32-34, 39-40
RESPONSORIAL PSALM
GOSPEL READING: Mt 28:16-20
PERSONAL REFLECTION
(As a tool for personal reflection, please visit the PDDM Website: www.pddm.org // www.pddm.us for BREAKING THE BREAD OF THE WORD [Series 4, n. 29]: A Lectio Divina Approach to the Sunday Liturgy. The Biblico-Liturgical Reflections are an aid for a deeper understanding of the Gospel reading.)
SONG: Any Eucharistic hymn or suitable song of praise may be sung.
Part II
JESUS MASTER WAY
Confrontation with the Word
POINTS FOR THE EXAMINATION OF THE HEART
Leader: We open our hearts to listen to the promptings of the living Word. Let us ask ourselves with limpid honesty:
A. Do we believe that God speaks in history? In the events that occur in our lives, can we detect the voice of God revealing his will? Do we perceive and recognize the Trinitarian action of God in salvation history?
B. What is the significance of the action of the One and Triune God in our life as Church and in my personal life? How do I participate in the life of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit? How do I deepen my relationship with God the Father, the Creator; with Jesus Lord, our Savior; and with the Holy Spirit, font of grace and sanctification?
C. Do I live my baptismal consecration as a true immersion into the life of the One and Triune God? Do I put into action the mandate received from Jesus: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt 28:19)? How does the promise of Jesus, “I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Mt 28:20) give me strength, courage and assurance?
PRAYER
(Cf. Prayers of Hildegard of Bingen)
Assembly: Praise be to you, Holy Trinity,
for you are sound and life.
The choirs of angels praise you.
Wonderful, mysterious radiance,
hidden from humankind,
you are life in everything.
Part III
JESUS LIFE
Acting upon the Word
PERSONAL PRAYER
CONTEMPLATING WITH MARY THE FACE OF CHRIST: The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary may be prayed in part or in full.
THE WAY OF SOLIDARITY: PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
Leader: The Father through the Holy Spirit has given life to the humanity of Christ his Son, and has made him a source of life for us. Let us raise our voices in praise to the triune God:
(R.) GLORY TO THE FATHER, AND TO THE SON, AND TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.
1. For the Holy Father’s General Intention for this month of June: FOR CHRISTIAN FAMILIES: May they lovingly welcome children and care for the aged. We pray: (R.)
2. For the Holy Father’s Mission Intention for this month of June: FOR THE CLERGY AND THE LAITY: May they see interreligious dialogue and inculturation of the Gospel as part of daily efforts to evangelize all peoples. We pray: (R.)
3. Father, almighty and eternal God, send the Holy Spirit upon your Church in your Son’s name. Preserve it in the unity of charity and in the fullness of truth. We pray: (R.)
4. Send laborers into your harvest, Lord, to teach the truth to all nations, and to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We pray: (R.)
5. Father, send help to all who suffer persecution in the name of your Son for he promised to send the Spirit of Truth to answer for them. We pray: (R.)
6. Father omnipotent, may all men and women come to acknowledge you, together with the Word and the Holy Spirit, as the one true God. May they believe in you, hope in you, and love you. We pray: (R.)
7. Father of all the living, bring the dead to share in your glory, the glory of your eternal reign with your Son and the Holy Spirit. We pray: (R.)
(Other prayers may be added.)
THE LORD’S PRAYER
CONCLUDING PRAYER
Leader: God, we praise you:
Father all-powerful, Christ Lord and Savior, Spirit of Love.
You reveal yourself in the depths of our being,
drawing us to share in your life and your love.
One God, three Persons,
be near to the people formed in your image,
close to the world your love brings to life.
We ask you this, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
one God, true and living, forever and ever.
Assembly: Amen.
FINAL SONG: Any suitable Eucharistic hymn or song of praise may be sung.
