- Sister Mary Scholastica Rivata was born in Guarene (Piedmont, Italy) on July 12, 1897.
- Her family, work and parish were all areas which provided a fertile environment in preparation for her
total consecration to the Lord which she ardently desired.
- Her meeting with the Servant of God, Fr. James Alberione, who had already founded the Society of St. Paul,
the Daughters of St. Paul and the Pauline Cooperators,
was a turning point for her vocation and mission.
- It was he who accepted Orsola Rivata in Alba (Piedmont, Italy) on July 29, 1922.
- The Servant of God, Fr. Alberione founded the Sister Disciples of the Divine Master, so that the new
religious family
"would completely belong to Jesus the Divine Master,
and might become a source of grace from which other religious families especially those more dedicated to
apostolic life could draw."
- Orsola Rivata was one of the first eight young women chosen for the new foundation.
- In the liturgical memorial of the sister of St. Benedict of Norcia, Orsola took the name of
Scholastica and committed her life to God through the hands of the Founder, for a
contemplative-apostolic
vocation and mission to live in the Church in communion with the Sisters, the Priesthood and the Liturgy.
- The direction of the Sisters was entrusted to her by the Founder.
- Her earthly journey ended in Sanfre (CN) and she entered into the eternal bliss on March 24, 1987 during the
first Vespers of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.
The canonical Process for the canonization was opened in Alba on March 13, 1993 and was close on March 25, 1994.
Now follows the required procedure at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome.
ONE OF THE SOURCES FROM
HER WRITINGS
To aim at the glory of God,
always seeking God in all and the salvation of souls.
To offer my day and my life to God
in love;
for priests, religious, missionaries,
in particular for the
Pauline Family,
so that
they may be numerous and holy in the Church
and may reach the whole humanity
with their ministry and apostolate.
